Captain Fawcett and the Maharajah
INTRODUCING A BRAND NEW SIGNATURE SERIES
Good day chums!
Much time passed since last I visited Rajasthan. As an esteemed guest at a starlit banquet, I had delivered a most entertaining (if I do say so myself) lecture on my latest expedition to the Indus Valley and was honoured by the Maharajah’s admiration for my stiff upper lip. For, indeed, that chivalrous gentleman was himself famed across the known world for the magnificence of his own facial follicles, marking a noble Rajput heritage.
For Rajput and Sikh princes, luxuriant facial hair signified honour, dignity and the strength of a tiger or lion, the fabled king of the beasts whose lordly title ‘Singh’ has been woven into Indian names since time immemorial.
In fact, the distinctive ‘Khatri’ whisker style combed moustaches to resemble the mane and noble visage of the tiger, whose proud spirit a ruler hoped to embody. As much as his turban and sword, a handsome moustache was essential, indeed a Rajput prince would shave only to mourn the death of his father.
Ahem, I digress..as I was saying, my speech and indeed my whiskers were a veritable triumph! And thus was born a lifelong bond.
The scene shifts to rainy London, where some years later I was simply delighted to observe the Maharajah’s Rolls Royce outside my Club. Alas, my worthy friend’s mood was glum. ‘I am here for the cricket,’ he said, ‘yet this English weather plays havoc with my whiskers.’
‘I have just the remedy!’ I exclaimed producing from my pocket a tiny crystal phial and flourishing it beneath his impressive nose. From the fragrant oils therein rose an astonishing harmony of aromatics. Evocative of myths and men, woven with a thousand years of memory, it was indeed the signature scent of the Maharajah’s beloved homeland. ‘Fawcett, you are simply extraordinary!’ cried my old chum, follicles immediately revived. Overcoming my natural modesty, of course I had to agree.
Captain Fawcett is therefore delighted to present an outstanding new Signature Series in collaboration with Viraj Singh of The Jodhpur Company.
Redolent of balmy air perfumed by aromatic smoke and a crush of bright petals stirring the heat of enchanted Indian nights, the Captain’s master blender has woven heady rose with peppery spice, rich musk, cedar & leather studded with dazzling citrus top notes; a majestic evocation of ancient power refined into a most elegant fragrance that entirely befits the modern gentleman.
