Ambassador Achievements

Posted on October 31, 2025 by Captain P. Fawcett

What a magnificent season of accomplishment it has been for the Captain’s fine fellowship of Ambassadors! From barber chairs to racetracks, from international masterclasses to matrimonial celebrations, esteemed chums have been flying the Fawcett flag with verve, skill and splendour! Read on for a full round-up of remarkable feats and first-class fellowship from across the globe…I say!

On the road & In the Chair

The indefatigable Sid Sottung has been a veritable whirlwind of activity, hosting two Wet Shave Seminars alongside Ambassadors Simon Butcher, Luke Ellis, Ilona Arena and Rob Walton — with more to come in the new year. Keep your eyes peeled for January’s next instalment chums!

Sid also took the Captain Fawcett Barbering Masterclass Tour to Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and then onwards to Athens, Greece, crossing paths with Grammy Award winner John Petrucci, yes indeed, the very same Nebula Signature Series rock star, whose mighty beard was most expertly trimmed en route. AHTH.

Meanwhile, the Right Hand Man was spotted In the Chair at Luke Ellis’s fine barbershop in Edinburgh, while Dean Gleeson filmed with none other than Booze & Baccy maestro Ricki Hall at the splendid new salon, Dean Gleeson Hair.

New faces & fine ventures

The Captain extends a hearty welcome to newly appointed Ambassadors, barber Simon Butcher and Kevan Johnson-Day — simply splendid fellows both! Simon, ever industrious, also celebrated the launch of Arkade Hair with his partner Charlie Venn, teaching, as they say, ‘the language of hair’. Meanwhile, Ilona Arena of Atelier Barbière joined her fellow tonsorial pioneers to unveil the magnificent United Barber Academy in Belgium, a fine testament to the ongoing evolution of the noble craft.

Enterprising chums Russell Lee and Kevan Johnson-Day also took to the spotlight, modelling for Sid Sottung and Luke Ellis respectively, while Kevan created a superb display housing the complete Captain Fawcett Eau de Parfum Collection. Bravo, that man!

Events, Rides & Celebrations

August saw the return of BarbersRide 2025, with a much anticipated stop at Fawcett HQ in King’s Lynn. Ambassadors Ricki Hall, Sid Sottung and Luke Ellis joined the camaraderie for a grand day of roaring engines, hirsute heroes and fine company. Huzzah!

Meanwhile, the indomitable Adam ‘Chad’ Child once again took to the track at Goodwood Revival, where he and his stalwart racing partner Stuart Tounge thundered round upon a 1961 Norton Manx 30M in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy, finishing a highly commendable 17th place. Jolly good show, gentlemen!

In other news of distinction, Russell Bristow tied the matrimonial knot with his best beloved partner in crime, Faithy King, while young Johnny Appleby Jr. — son of the Captain’s longstanding chum Johnny Appleby — clinched the National 800m Grasstrack Championship, proudly flying the Captain Fawcett colours. Absolutely fantastic!

Competitions & Distinctions

In addition getting hitched, roving Ambassador Russell Bristow has enjoyed a truly remarkable run upon the competition circuit, achieving:

  • 4th place in the Dali Moustache category at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Pittsburgh, USA (July).
  • 1st place for Best Freestyle Moustache Design at @captainmoustache BMC 2025 in York (July).
  • st place in the ‘Lip Reaper’ category at the Dead Famous Beard & Moustache Competition in St Neots, Cambridgeshire (August).
  • 2nd place at the Sandgrown Beardsmen Oktobeardfest Competition in Blackpool (September).

Elsewhere, the marvellous Janene Hawkins-Bush continues to excel, with Heavenly Hair Suffolk chosen from thousands to be named among the Top 10 UK Hair Salons by the Hair and Beauty Awards UK, and Janene herself nominated for Businesswoman of the Year (Small Business Category) at the National Women’s Business Awards 2025. Absolutely splendid achievements indeed!

A Salute from the Captain

To every Ambassador who has taught, competed, opened, raced, filmed, built or, indeed, bearded magnificently, the Captain and crew salute your unwavering dedication, fine spirit, and simply unmistakable Fawcett flair.

Here’s to the next adventures!

Quite simply, you rock.
